James A. "Mickey" McGlynn founded the club in 1949. He was from Olympia, Washington. This first club of the White Collie Fancy was named "White Collie Breeders' Association". The purpose of the club was to
the "White Collie Bulletin" until his untimely death in 1952. Mr. Harold Marley took over Mr. McGlynn's duties as editor until the late 1950s, when the club was dissolved. 1960 - 1964 In an effort to take up where the old club has left off, a group of southern California fanciers reorganized the club in 1960. This club continued for several years, until it disbanded, due to too few members (less than fifty) that were scattered across the United States. A handful of members worked to keep the club going, but the burden was too great and with the declining health of club President Charles Tuttle, the club dissolved in 1964. 1972 - August 1996 In 1972, a white Collie club was reorganized again, under the name of "The White Collie Club of America". Around 1983, the club's name was changed to the American White Collie Association (AWCA), but was changed back due to the American Working Collie Association having the same abbreviation. Club membership began to dwindle and the club was dissolved due to unresolved controversy. September 1996 - 2011 Once again, a small group of White Collie Fanciers joined together to educate, promote the beautiful white Collie. This group wanted to educate the public about the myths that surrounded white Collies. This club was named International White Collie Club, and includes members from all over the world and is the present day club. With the support of all those who love and admire the White Collie, the club's goal to educate the public about the White Collie is happening with the work of all of our club members. Our membership consists of owners of White Collies as working Collies, therapy Collies, herding Collies and those who are in the performance rings and the conformation rings as well as those wonderful Collies that do so much to keep us happy each day. All of them are our companions and pets. Collies can do it all and we are very proud of them. |

| We welcome ALL Collie Lovers to join our club, and support our efforts to promote this lovely Collie color. You don't have to own a White Collie, or even own a Collie at all! As part of your membership, you will receive our quarterly magazine, The White Collie Chronicle, which has many photos and interesting information in every issue! We hope that you will join us in making sure that this lovely color is not lost to the breed, as nearly happened in the last century. We would love to welcome you, by asking you to join us with a Supporting Membership or by becoming as involved as you would like. Your support can make a difference. |
