Queen Victoria's Collies
Queen Victoria was very dedicated to the Collie breed.
She owned many of them, and helped them become a fashionable breed during the
Victorian era.  She preferred the 'working type' Collie that resembled a Border Collie.
Her Collies were shown only a short time, but her interest in the breed did encourage
other ladies to show them.  The Collie became quite popular as a pet and show dog.
The Collie appearance changed dramatically in the years spanning 1845 and 1896,
changing from a rough herding dog to an elegant and more refined show dog, much
closer to what we know today.
